Happy 33rd Anniversary Dick Nierenberg April 28th. Your adventures in the aviation business began. Well Done!

Due to a communications gap, the Mid-Air Collision Avoidance program scheduled for last month was not held. A frantic phone call to Ken Nierenberg, provided those in attendance with a talk on airplane systems. We will try to reschedule the previous subject in the near future. Thank you, Ken!

Its Spring...And our feathered friends are here and ready to build their new homes in your plane. Check for those tell-tale signs before taking off.

A Notam = A Notam = A Notam ?

WRONG!

When we changed our unicom from 122.7 to 122.725, we posted a NOTAM with Millville Flight Service. We felt comfortable that diligent pilots would get the necessary information. But we kept hearing, "I checked FSS and didn't get any NOTAMs".

We made numerous phone calls to different levels of the FAA and found that our NOTAM only qualified as a local NOTAM. We also found out that a pilot getting a briefing from a FSS other than our station will not give out the NOTAM unless specifically asked to find the posted NOTAM. This is the traffic that was of particular concern to us, as our local pilots were advised previously. So you have NOTAMs in the AIM, AFDs, Class I, Class II-published NOTAMs, and Special Activity Letters from the FAA. Maybe more! Plan ahead and ask lots of questions.
