Lots of Luck! No more Cessna 152s.
Welcome to 39N, Debra Williamson and your C-172.
Our newsletter is usually made up of news from last month and activities for the month to come. Well, April provided little news. While bemoaning the fact that April had little news, Ryan Boyd reminded me, "No New is Good News"!
Garmin 295 GPSs are now in stock. The mad rush when they first came out has past. They are a great tool $1449. The GPS 195, which is still great has been reduced to $949. Ask for a demo only if you plan to buy. Otherwise you will be drooling!
Mother's Day - May 14th. Suggestion: If Mom's a pilot, buy the book, $100 Hamburger and let her choose the place she would like to fly for lunch. If she's not a pilot, just give her the book and you fly her there!
Memorial Day - May 29th. VFR - Open all day. IFR - Closed at 1:00 p.m. Call ahead for services.
Some Prices Just Keep Going UP!
FAA Aeronautical Knowledge Tests - $80.00.
Fuel... When fuel increases by 26 cents in one day, you know it is serious. And it is still rising. We have raised the retail rate of low lead and jet A as well as the airplane rentals. If the prices return to normalcy, the prices will return to pre-fuel increases.
And Some Prices Go DOWN!
ICOM and Yaesu have substantially reduced the prices of their handhelds.
ICOM A22 - $499.95 (down $60)
ICOM A22 Sport - $399.95
Yaesu Pilot - $449.00
Yaesu Pro - $399.00
Princeton Airport Hosts Princeton University Students. Weather permitting, Princeton Airport will provide a tour of the airport and introductory lessons for the students in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering program at Princeton University. The chairman thought it is important for the students to get some practical application of their studies. We started this venture with the university back in October, setting numerous dates, only to be canceled because of low clouds or rain. They scheduled for late April, thinking the worst was over - wrong again. Now we will try to get the seniors up before they graduate.
April Showers Bring May Flowers...
If this is so, we should have a bumper crop of blooms as we sure have had a lot of rain. As an example of the frustration, one student scheduled 18 lessons without flying one of them. Progress checks are now backed up for weeks. Some of you have had to fly again with your instructor to make sure you were still up to speed. You might feel the numerous cancellations have been aimed at you personally, but fret not, we are all in this mud together. If you remember last year, it was very wet and then we had a drought. Dry weather is great for flight training. Let it rain between 10:00 p.m. and 4:00 a.m. Besides we haven't been advised to build our arks yet.

Since the early days of aviation, navigation was always an issue. Initially there were no airports and no rules as to where you could land. As more pilots took to the air, regulations began to evolve.
CFII Peter Rafle always puts a historical spin to his presentations. Pete will explain the history and the charts of today. Coma and enjoy his fascinating talk.
This class counts as a seminar for your Pilot Proficiency Program "Wings".
