TERRORISTS TURN AVIATION UPSIDE DOWN

September 11th will be a day that we will never forget. Every one of us has been touched, directly or indirectly, by the carnage these evil people brought upon New York City, Pennsylvania and Washington.

Just when aviation is gearing up to celebrate the centennial of the Wright Brothers in 2003, who would ever have dreamed that this great invention would turn into weapons of mass destruction. The terrorists have violated everything in aviation which we hold so dear. The privilege of learning to fly has been uniquely American, open to all, and these demons have changed aviation for ever – our skyline, our airspace, our security, and our way of life.

Running an airport in the Princeton region has been enhanced by the diversity of our students, staff, and base customers, who come from all over the world. This became most evident when the authorities checked and rechecked "who flies at Princeton Airport?" It has become apparent that the terrorist flew in NJ. So far we have no information that any of them flew with us. Among the many communications we received from all over the world, former 39N instructor, Mohamed Moussa, who lives in France, prays that he never taught anyone who would use it against this wonderful country. So do we.

After being grounded for ten days, it was wonderful to see you come back. We will try our best to return to normalcy.

Congratulations:

Welcome new airplane owner, Michael Urbanski and your Mooney.

A Hearty Welcome to Thanapongse "Tony" Poonpracha to our staff. Tony comes with a CFI, CFII, MEI, so he is ready to help our students achieve their goals.

Are you interested in a Ground School Class? We will be glad to arrange either a Private and/or Instrument Ground School Class. Sign up – we need 12 students/class. With the shortening of daylight hours, this is a good time to start.

How about a PINCHHITTER CLASS?

This is for that person who flies with you in the right seat & wants to know more.

ATTENTION ALL PILOTS: Due to the heightened security measures imposed by the FAA, it is imperative that check NOTAMS every time you plan to fly. These can change by the hour and ignorance of a NOTAM will not be acceptable. Everyone must cooperate with the government during this crisis. Be aware that there are NOTAMS regarding restrictions around stadiums, thus we must be careful when there are home games at Princeton University.

"ENHANCED CLASS B AIRSPACE" is defined as that airspace within the extreme lateral limit of Class B airspace from surface to infinity. This includes all of the area within, below or above Class B Airspace. The "Mode C Veil" is NOT part of the enhanced Class B airspace area. Just don’t go there.

If you have any questions, please check with an instructor before taking off.

There are construction NOTAMS still in effect for 39N. Instrument night approaches are not permitted until the FAA flies to check the lighting system. Be an informed pilot.

CONSTRUCTION UPDATE:

As if September didn’t have enough problems, we were hit with a violent storm late on September 4th. Everything went grayish white and the winds were hauling. When it was over there was a rainbow and everything looked normal except for the two airplanes, which were plastered against the tree line. Yes, both airplanes were tied down, however the ropes broke in half.

Several Airplanes for Sale – Cessna 206, Saratoga, Skyhawks, etc. Interests rates have fallen considerably, so this might be a window of opportunity. Call Ken or Dick
