ongratulations:

1st Solos:
James Larkin/Justin Sinclair

Congratulations, - Airplane Owners, Naomi Kelman and your pretty Bonanza and Joe Tucker and your Piper Cherokee 140.  Happy and safe landings.

PUSH-TO-TALK SWITCHES have been placed in our fleet.  Please leave them in the planes so your fellow pilots can enjoy them.

Staff Additions and Departures
After some rocky times, our flight instruction staff is ready for action.  We welcome three instructors new to 39N and welcome back, Ather Mahmood.
On Sept. 10, 2001, Craig Puleio set off from Arizona with N868SP for its trip to its new home at 39N.  Of course the next day forced Craig to land at the nearest airport which was a military base in Illinois.  He was its guest from Tuesday until Saturday when IFR traffic was permitted.  But the closest Craig could get with the plane was ABE.  He left the plane and had enough time to ask for an instruction position in December of '01.  But a tonsillectomy and an 8 month reserve obligation postponed those plans.  When he was finally released he came back to us again, at which time we immediately put him to work flying for an aerial photographer--September 10th, exactly one year from his original flight to New Jersey.
Havard (Howard) Andreassen and Morten Kristensen do not have such a significant story to their employ here, however we welcome them to our school.
And Ather Mahmood has returned after a trip to England to for tender, loving care.
The bottom line is that all of you have a real opportunity of taking advantage of the wonderful fall weather.  Call us for an assignment of an instructor.

FALL "WINGS" SPECIAL

The FAA encourages pilots to receive recurrent training via the Pilot Proficiency Program and upon completion, they will send you a certificate and a lapel pin.  There are twenty phases of the Wings Program.  You are required to get three hours in the air with an instructor--one hour takeoffs and landings; one hour airwork; and one hour of instrument training.  You also must attend a Safety Seminar or get one hour of ground instruction.  We will send the information to the FAA.  The program will count as a BFR for one year--upon receiving one hour of ground instruction, it is a two year biennial.
