Princeton Airport News – August 2019

As we enter August, we’re half way through the summer.  Although mighty hot and some heavy rains, activities at the airport were brisk.  Some of you have returned to flying after a long interruption while others embarked upon a new venture.  We have been busy and we hope that your experience has been enjoyable.
Please note that the president will be visiting his Bedminster home, so please make sure you’re familiar with TFR regulations.  Don’t venture up until you’re confident that you’re in compliance.
Fly safe and have fun.

TFR!!!
August 2019
Effective:  August 2nd – 4th
August 8th – 18th
If you’re not sure how to navigate through this, please check with one of our instructors.

Pete Rafle & Jeff Slutsky on Princeton Flying School Podcast #6

In Episode 6 of the Princeton Flying School Podcast Pete Rafle sat down with Jeff Slutsky, Chief Pilot of the Princeton Flying School. Pete and Jeff talked about the current state of flight training, as well as some of the experiences that they have encountered as flight instructors here at the Princeton Flying School.

FREE SUMMER AIRPORT TOURS

Since 1985, the operators of Princeton Airport have opened their doors to visitors (both young and young-at-heart) to let them see and experience the daily operations of the airfield. This summer, Princeton Airport invites the public to free tours that will continue through August every Tuesday morning. Starting at 10:30 AM, the tours will address the past 108 years of the airport’s history, explore the present day-to-day operations and facilities, as well as take a glimpse into the bright future of Princeton Airport.
Whether you have kids or grand kids visiting or you know of a group looking for a outing, this is a great event for all ages.

Happy August Everyone!   Platinum Helicopters would like to welcome a new Flight Instructor to the team, Yogev Sery. This is one of Platinum Helicopters favorite and busiest months and we are looking forward to flying with you all.
Congratulations:

From The Right Seat
Peter Rafle, Chief Pilot Emiteritus
Today I am far away from 39N in the northern Adirondack Mountains of New York State. Our “camp” is not far from KSLK, Adirondack Regional Airport, KSLK. It is a good airport to use if you ever fly up to the “North Country”.   But I am here to spend time with the family, fish, paddle my kayaks and canoes and just chill.
Before I left, we produced another podcast which is posted on the Princeton Flying School website. I and the Producer/Director Ken Greenberg have recorded six sessions to date. We are going to continue on a monthly basis interviewing pilots and interesting members of our aviation community. I welcome any comments or suggestions for topics you would like to hear discussed, and people you want me to have a conversation with.

PILOT FINANCE
As you probably are aware, the pilot shortage of the airlines filters down to the local level through the flight schools, charters, etc.  At the same time there is more interest in becoming a professional pilot, which we all know is costly.  Pilot Finance, Inc, does provide financing for flight training.  For information contact pilotfinance.com .
