Princeton Airport News – October 2017

This summer season provided us with great outdoor activities including flying.  So many of you were able to fly to places far and wide, while others joined the world of aviation.  It was wonderful to see so many new names added to our aviation community.

The leaves are starting to turn color, making fall a great time to fly and get a spectacular bird’s eye view of fall foliage.

With so many places being hit by the hurricanes, we have been extremely lucky our area remains in tact.  Our hearts go out to the victims of the many weather and naturals disasters.

Last, keep your eyes and ears open for the latest TFRs.  They continue to be challenge to pilots in this area.  Just be careful.

MANY THANKS TO THE STATE

Thanks to the State of New Jersey for the crack repair and resealing of the runway, taxiway, and ramp.  Now that it’s completed, the airport looks good as new.  Thanks to you for your cooperation during these improvements.

And thanks to you, who buy aviation fuel – each gallon has a special tax which is supposed to go into a fund for airport safety improvements.   So some of your tax dollars have returned home.

‘From the Right Seat’ by Assistant Chief Pilot Peter Rafle
Many an airline captain has said, “I have navigated three thousand miles, through thunderstorms , rain and hail, flew the approach in the clouds, broke out near minimums, landed on the center line, but I bounced the landing.  That is all my passengers will remember about the flight.”  The smooth landing with that quiet “chirp” can be elusive.  But, if you practice enough, and focus on the process during your approach, it can happen regularly. LENGTHY, BUT WORTH THE READ
